A Happy Computer
We all know that happy feeling when we get a nice new computer. It is lightening fast and seems to zip through the internet faster than we can click the mouse. But over time we start to notice that our once super fast computer is starting to slow down. That is where the proper maintenance comes in.
As we use our computer it is constantly reading and writing information on the hard drive and memory. Files get moved around and around. And after a while things can get “misplaced” and it will take the computer longer to find what it is looking for.
Some tips to avoid this are:
- Empty your temporary internet files and delete those old cookies.
- Defrag your hard drive monthly (see below for links on how to defrag your hard drive)
- Avoid questionable internet sites.
- Be aware of what you are downloading to your computer.
- Make sure your anti-virus protection is up to date.
